What Happens on the Day of Facelift Surgery
- Step 1 — Arrival & Markings (45 min)
Pre-op photographs from all angles. Detailed markings while seated upright. Hair clipped or pinned away from incision lines.
- Step 2 — Anaesthesia (15 min)
General anaesthesia for traditional and deep-plane facelifts; local + sedation for mini facelifts.
- Step 3 — Incisions (15 min)
Hidden in the hairline above the temple, in front of the ear, and behind the ear. May extend into the lower scalp for full lift.
- Step 4 — SMAS Repositioning (90-150 min)
Skin is gently lifted to expose the SMAS layer. SMAS is repositioned upward and secured. Excess skin trimmed conservatively.
- Step 5 — Liposuction / Fat Grafting (30-45 min)
If indicated — neck or jowl liposuction; fat grafting to restore volume in cheeks or temples.
- Step 6 — Closure (30-45 min)
Skin closed in layers with fine sutures. Drains placed if needed. Light dressing applied.
- Step 7 — Recovery & Discharge (4-6 hrs)
Observation in recovery room. Most go home the same day; SMAS and deep-plane patients may stay one night.
